The tie is the ultimate symbol of male elegance, an accessory that accompanies us faithfully in our business and beyond. In recent years, however, people tend to do without it as soon as they have a chance, although it is an essential feature in a formal and professional look. Fabrics and prints used to make ties are numerous, each with a meaning and with a different use. Here’s a little dress-code on how to use the tie, that suggests how and why you can wear it on a precise occasion:
– Plain color tie : there are infinite shades and endless fabric; It is very versatile and solves the problem of tie-shirt matching, especially if it is a patterned shirt. In dark colors, it is perfect for the office and also for an important dinner; suitable for special occasions in the colors of blue and for a weekend with more fun colors.
– Striped tie : those who wear a Regimental prefer the English style because it is a symbol of belonging to a particular college and regiment. You can wear it to the office by opting for colors not too flashy and to a elegant dinner; for a country style weekend shades like green and brown are fine.
– Polka dots tie : a must, especially in white polka dots and a dark blue background variation. The polka-dot size is at the expense of the wearer, but the more they are large and the more you are in the spotlight. Yes for the office and for an elegant dinner, preferably with dark background; Also suitable for an important occasion if we choose one with a lot of small dots.  – Cashmere printed tie : also called Paisley, it is a type of tie that has Eastern origins. – Tartan tie : it is a tie that in Italy it is usual with an office outfit while in England, place of origin, it is used only in the country, prohibited in other circumstances. – Prince of Wales, Spiked ties etc … : they are typical patters for a jacket but we often find them on this accessory. Ties that have intense and complex patterns are better matched with a plain color shirt. Perfect for the office, provided it is not in bright colors, and for an elegant dinner. With light colors it is good for a special occasion while for a weekend brown shades are better. La cravatta è il simbolo dell’eleganza maschile per eccellenza, un accessorio che ci accompagna fedelmente nel percorso lavorativo e non solo.
Da qualche anno a questa parte però, si tende a farne a meno appena si ha l’occasione, nonostante sia un complemento fondamentale per un look formale e professionale.
Sono numerosi i tessuti e le stampe utilizzate per confezionare cravatte, ognuno con un significato e con un utilizzo diverso.
Ecco un piccolo dress-code sull’utilizzo della cravatta che suggerisce come e perché si può indossare in quella precisa occasione:

• Cravatta tinta unita : ne esistono di infinite tonalità e di infiniti tessuti; è molto versatile  e risolve il problema dell’abbinamento cravatta-camicia, specialmente se è a fantasia.
  E’ perfetta per l’ufficio nelle tonalità scure e anche per una cena importante; adatta ad occasioni speciali nelle tinte del blu e per un un week-end con colori più divertenti.
• Cravatta righe : chi indossa una Regimental predilige lo stile inglese perché è simbolo di appartenenza ad un particolare college e reggimento. Si può indossare in ufficio optando per colori non troppo vistosi e ad una cena elegante; per un week end stile country  vanno bene le tonalità della terra e del verde.
• Cravatta pois : un must, specie nella variante pois bianchi e sfondo blu scuro. La dimensione dei pois è a discapito di chi la indossa, ma più sono grandi e più si è al centro dell’attenzione. Sì per l’ufficio e per una cena elegante, magari con sfondo scuro; adatta anche ad un’occasione importante se ne scegliamo una con dei pois molto piccoli.
• Cravatta stampa cashmere : detta anche Paisley, è un tipo di cravatta che ha origini orientali. I disegni a forma di goccia ricurva, simbolo della fertilità, sono ammesse nell’ambito del business e durante occasioni speciali se hanno colori tenui ed eleganti; fantasie più vistose sono perfette per delle cene o per un week end elegante.
• Cravatta stampa geometrica : questa particolare stampa, se ben fatta, sembra quasi tridimensionale. Chi ama questa tipologia di cravatta, dovrebbe evitare i motivi troppo “ipnotici” in ufficio, specialmente durante importanti trattative commerciali, perché tende a distrarre l’interlocutore; ben accetta anche in una cena e durante un’occasione importante se è sulle tonalità argento o simili.
• Cravatta fantasia : fiori, animali e oggetti di tutti i tipi e dimensioni sono i protagonisti di questa cravatta. Eccentrica e divertente non è consigliata ne per l’ufficio ne per le occasioni speciali, ma in contesti informali come un pranzo o una cena in famiglia o una serata tra amici.
• Cravatta tartan : è una cravatta che in Italia si è soliti abbinare ad un abito da ufficio mentre in Inghilterra, luogo d’origine, la si indossa solo in campagna e guai a proporla in altre circostanze. Va bene per l’ufficio se si tratta di un tartan discreto, come un Blackwatch, mentre ci si può sbizzarrire con i colori durante una cena o un week end.
• Cravatta Principe di Galles, Spigato ecc… : sono i motivi tipici di una giacca che però troviamo spesso in questo accessorio. Sono cravatte che hanno un disegno fitto e complesso e che preferiscono una camicia tinta unita. Perfetta per il lavoro, a patto che non abbia colori vistosi, e per una cena elegante. Con colori chiari va bene anche per un’occasione speciale mentre per un week end si prediligono i colori della terra.
