Il Blazer
Il blazer, come la maggior parte dei capi maschili proviene dal mondo militare, più precisamente dall’ambiente della Marina Militare inglese.
Prima che venissero introdotti i ferrei regolamenti sull’equipaggiamento e sulla divisa,
era compito del capitano scegliere la tenuta del proprio equipaggio; fu proprio per questo motivo che nel 1837 il Capitano HMS Blazer,
sapendo che avrebbe avuto visita dalla regina Vittoria, decise di far indossare ai suoi soldati un doppiopetto blu con bottoni neri e con spacchi
laterali. Con il tempo divenne parte integrante della divisa da marinaio.
Esiste una seconda versione sulla nascita del blazer, che riguarda più il mondo sportivo: si narra infatti che il doppiopetto fosse la giacca
della squadra di canottaggio di Cambrige, di colore rosso acceso, a simboleggiare l’ardore di chi la indossava
e aveva lo stemma del college sul taschino.
Ritenuto un simbolo di eccellenza e di èlite, il blazer è oggi un capo semi informale, immancabile nel guardaroba maschile.
The Blazer
The blazer, like the majority of menswear, comes from the military world, more precisely from the British Navy.
Before the severe regulations on equipment and uniform were introduced, it was the duty of the captain to choose the outfit of his crew; it was precisely for this
reason that in 1837 the Captain HMS Blazer, knowing that he would have been visited by Queen Victoria, decided to make his soldiers wearing a blue double-
breasted jacket with black buttons and sided slits. By the time, it became an essential part of sailors’ uniform.
There is a second version on the invention of the blazer, which is more about the sporting world: it is said that the double-breasted jacket was the jacket used by
the rowing team of Cambridge, in a bright red color, to symbolize the ardor of those who wore it featuring the emblem of the college on the pocket.
Considered a symbol of excellence and elite, the blazer is now a semi informal jacket, a must in men’s wardrobe.
