Frank Sinatra nasce a Hoboken, New Jersey, il 12 Dicembre del 1915.
Vive con la mamma Dolly, ligure, e con il papà Martin, pugile dilettante e pompiere di origini
siciliane; un’infanzia dura la sua, trascorsa nelle strade nella quale è costretto a fare i lavori
più umili per aiutare economicamente la sua famiglia.
Da sempre appassionato di musica, a sedici anni forma la sua prima band: i Turk.
Sinatra è conosciuto come ” The Voice” , per le sue inconfondibili caratteristiche vocali e per
aver scritto duemiladuecento canzoni per un totale di 166 album, dedicandosi anche al grande
schermo, vincendo ben due oscar.
Non solo. Famoso latin lover, si sposa quattro volte: la prima a ventiquattro anni, con Nancy
Barbato, dal 1939 al 1950, dalla quale ha tre figli: Nancy, Frank Jr. e Christina;
successivamente arriveranno Ava Gardner, con la quale avrà un’intensa storia d’amore,
e l’attrice Mia Farrow . Persona generosa e sensibile agl’occhi di molti – già nei primi anni ’50 si
schiera a favore dei neri, vicino al suo inseparabile amico Sammy Davies Jr.-
viene più volte accusato di far parte della mafia, protetto dal gangster Sam
Giancana, proprietario di un famoso casino a Las Vegas.
La canzone che più lo rappresenta è sicuramente “My Way” , canzone ripresa da centinaia di
artisiti e riadattata in altrettante versioni. Ancora oggi, riferimento per molti.

Frank Sinatra was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, on December 12th, 1915.During his childhood he lives with his mother Dolly, from Liguria (Italy), and with his dad Martin, amateur boxer player and firefighter with Sicilian roots; his childhood is tough, spent in the streets in which he is forced to do humble jobs to help his family financially. He aways had a strong passion for music, at sixteen he formed his first band: the Turk. Sinatra is known as “The Voice”, for its unique vocal characteristics and for having written two thousand and two hundred songs for a total of 166 albums, he also worked in the movie industry, winning two Oscars. But there is more. Famous Latin lover, he got married four times: the first when he was twenty-four years old, with Nancy Barbato, from 1939 to 1950, and they had three children: Nancy, Frank Jr. and Christina; then come Ava Gardner, with whom he had a long love story, and the actress Mia Farrow. Generally considered generous and sensitive – in the early 50s he pleaded for black people, together with his inseparable friend Sammy Davies Jr. – he was repeatedly accused of being part of the Mafia, protected by the gangster Sam Giancana, owner of a famous casino in Las Vegas. The song that best represents him is definitely “My Way”, a song reedited by hundreds of artists1 and re arranged in many versions. Even today, he is a point of reference for many. Frank “The Voice” Sinatra leaves us on May 14th, 1998.
